If you’re on the hunt for a reliable, safe, and fuel-efficient SUV, you’ve probably come across the 2022 Chevy Trax. To introduce drivers from Avon, Cleveland, and Akron, OH, to it, our team at Mark Wahlberg Chevy Avon has put together this review.
We’ll cover the Trax’s performance, dimensions, and even the SUV’s safety features. Read on to learn more!
Performance and Fuel Economy
The Trax is capable right out of the gate. The standard engine is an ECOTEC® 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder that puts out an impressive 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. To help you get power and smooth shifting when you need it, the Trax is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and Driver Shift Control.
With the 1.4L engine, you’ll go far with fewer stops for gas. The engine has an EPA-estimated 24 city and 32 highway MPG. Front-wheel drive is standard on the Trax for better fuel economy too. However, if you frequently drive in areas with rougher terrain or slippery road conditions, all-wheel drive is available.
Dimensions and Cargo Space
The Trax offers plenty of cargo and interior space for luggage and passengers. If you’re interested in taking a road trip, no one will feel cramped in the Trax.
For the most cargo space you can get, fold the second-row seats down and you’ll get a maximum of 48.4 cubic feet of cargo space. The Trax still boasts an impressive 18.7 cubic feet of cargo space with a full cabin of passengers.
Turning your attention to passenger space, the Trax seats five people and offers plenty of legroom for even your tallest companions. The front row has 40.8 inches of legroom and the second row has 35.7 inches of legroom.
There won’t be a lot of squished shoulders or hips either. The front row offers 54.1 inches of shoulder room and 51.7 inches of hip room. The shoulder room comes to 52.8 inches in the back seat, while the hip room measures 50.7 inches.
Safety and Driver-Assistive Features
Whether you’re driving by yourself or with your whole family, the Trax is designed to keep you and your passengers safe. There are 10 standard airbags throughout the vehicle, and there are plenty of driver-assistive and safety features to lend a hand.
One such feature is the standard Rear Vision Camera. This camera is great for backing out of parking spaces or driveways. You can see what is directly behind your vehicle so you know if there are any obstacles in your way.
Another helpful safety feature, especially if you travel on highways often, is the available Side Blind Zone Alert system. If there is a vehicle in your blind spot, this feature will let you know with a visual warning in your side view mirror.
