Starting out, the Trailblazer and the Crosstrek have a handful of similarities. For instance, both models have two engines to choose from. In the Trailblazer, the standard 1.2L engine is paired with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) with an output of 162 lb-ft of torque.

Looking at the Crosstrek, you’ll still have a CVT but the standard 2.0L engine only offers 145 lb-ft of torque. When you upgrade, you’ll encounter another problem. The Crosstrek is only available with a CVT and an 8-speed manual transmission. In the Trailblazer, you’ll be able to make use of a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Other than their outputs, there are several other aspects that go into the performance of a vehicle. One such feature is the drivetrain. We know it’s important to choose the type of drive you want for yourself. That’s why the Chevy Trailblazer can be equipped with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Unfortunately, you won't get a choice with the Crosstrek. It only offers all-wheel drive. While this is impressive, it’s not for everyone. You deserve to choose your own drivetrain.

When it comes to their measurements, you’ll find similar numbers. Both models are just over 70 inches wide. However, the Trailblazer makes it easier to find parking at just 174.07 inches long, while the Crosstrek may require a bit of searching to find a space that can accommodate its length of 176.4 inches. Of course, dimensions are just one piece of it.

The Trailblazer also provides more unique options for your vehicle’s exterior. For example, colors like Nitro Yellow and Cacti Green deviate away from the standard red, black, and white vehicles you may see on the road. In addition, the Trailblazer offers 2-tone color combinations. While the Crosstrek does have a green exterior to offer, it doesn’t have anything quite like yellow or any 2-tone options.

When you step into these SUVs, you’ll once again be greeted by similarities. The Trailblazer and the Crosstrek each come with:

• 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat
• Available heated front seats
• Available automatic climate control

However, your back-seat passengers will be the first to notice how much room the Trailblazer has—and how much the Crosstrek doesn’t. This is especially noticeable for tall passengers, as the Trailblazer offers 38.4 inches of headroom and 39 inches of legroom in the rear row. The Crosstrek falls behind with just 38 inches of headroom and 36.5 inches of legroom.

While you’ll find a few similarities between these two SUVs, such as the ability to connect your phone via Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™, you’ll notice the Trailblazer comes with more standard features. For instance, even the base trim of the Trailblazer is Wi-Fi hotspot capable. To get the same capability in the Crosstrek, you’ll have to upgrade to a higher trim.

The standard screen sizes of the Trailblazer are also larger with an 11-inch center display and an 8-inch Driver Information Center display. In comparison, the Crosstrek has a dual 7-inch system.

When it comes to you and your family’s safety, the Trailblazer and the Crosstrek have it handled. However, this is another area where the Trailblazer can give you more on the base trim. For instance, both Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Side Blind Zone Alert are available on every trim. Meanwhile, the Crosstrek will need to be upgraded to get comparable features.

Plus, the Teen Driver feature of the Trailblazer will help you feel confident when your kids begin learning to drive. This feature activates specific systems and gives you an in-car report card to let you know how your teen is doing. Unfortunately, the Crosstrek has no equivalent features.
